Newbury Solar Array at Wastewater Treatment Plant – funded through a Power Purchase Agreement with NO COST TO TOWN.

  • Fall 2022 – Final inspections, transformer upgrade (Eversource)
  • Summer 2022 Clear land, set ground screws foundations, start building racking, and install solar panels
  • Spring 2022 – warrant article, approved by Selectboard and Newbury residents at annual town meeting, to install solar panels to provide energy to the Newbury Wastewater Treatment Plant on Bowles Road.

Hannaford
In collaboration with the New London Energy Committee, calls with Hannaford’s Manager of Sustainability and the General Manager of Hannaford’s New London on how Hannaford is approaching topics such as reducing single use plastics, considering Electric Vehicle charging stations and more.

Mt. Sunapee
Research and letter of support for Mount Sunapee Resort to install Electric Vehicle charging stations for visitors to the state park and ski resort.
Request to New Hampshire Mount Sunapee Advisory Commission that the Commission ask Mount Sunapee Resort to include energy usage metrics and plans specific to Mount Sunapee in the annual and five-year plans submitted to the Commission.
Newbury Energy tent at the Mount Sunapee Fall Festival 2021, in collaboration with New England College students.

New England College
~ Newbury Energy Committee members spoke to a climate change course on campus about the solar project planned for Newbury.
~ Newbury Energy is collaborating with a student to prepare information on diverting food waste and starting a composting initiative with local scout or other groups.
~ A student is assisting with the development of the Newbury Energy website.

~ New England College students supported Newbury Energy in sharing information at the Mount Sunapee Fall Festival 2021.
